Stump Grinding Questions
How deep do you grind a stump?
Standard grinding runs well below the surface — plenty for sod, seed, and most planting. When new hardscape or a replacement tree is going in the same spot, we grind deeper to purpose. Tell us the plan for the space and we grind to fit it.
Can you plant a new tree where the old stump was?
Yes, with the right prep: deeper grinding, removal of the old root mass in the planting zone, and fresh soil so the new tree is not rooting into decaying grindings. Offset placement a few feet is sometimes the smarter play — we will advise on site.
What happens to all the wood chips?
Your choice: hauled off entirely (most common), or left raked into beds as mulch where the material suits it. Either way the hole gets backfilled with soil and graded — a chip-filled crater that sinks for two years is not a finished job.
