A real French drain is engineered: correctly sloped trench, quality perforated pipe, washed gravel, and — the part failed systems always skip — filter fabric that keeps DFW’s fine clay sediment from silting the pipe shut in two seasons.
We set every run with fall to a legitimate discharge point, tie in downspouts and surface drains where it makes sense, and restore the surface so cleanly that the only evidence is dry ground. On commercial sites, we route and document the system so future work never finds it by accident.

French Drain Questions
What’s the difference between a French drain and a surface drain?
Surface drains capture water you can see — runoff sheeting across grade into a basin. French drains collect water you cannot see: saturation moving through soil. Most stubborn DFW drainage problems need one, the other, or both working together, which is exactly how we design them.
How long does a French drain last?
Built with filter fabric, washed gravel, and real slope, decades. Built without them — the bargain version — clay sediment typically chokes the pipe within a couple of years. Ours are built the first way.
Will you have to destroy my lawn to install it?
No. Trenches are cut surgically, spoil is hauled or reused as grade, and sod goes back over the run. Within a few weeks the line disappears — along with the standing water.
